Venice's majestic Ca' Rezzonico is a majestic 17th century baroque mansion that faces the Grand Canal. Complete with probably the most magnificent ballroom in the whole of Venice, the Ca' Rezzonico is full of period features and impressive attractions. The Ca' Rezzonico mansion has hosted many wonderful costume balls over the years, including one particularly famous party in the 1960s to honour Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
Construction of Venice's Ca' Rezzonico commenced in the 1660s by architect Baldassare Longhena and the building was finally completed almost 100 years later, in the 1750s by Giorgio Massari. The Ca' Rezzonico mansion has been the residence of several notable families and individuals, including the famous English poet Robert Browning, who actually died here.
Today, Venice's Ca' Rezzonico is now home to the popular Museo del Settecento Veneziano (Museum of 18th-Century Venice), which contains a particularly grand collection of 18th-century furniture and extensive art exhibits. Attractions at the Ca' Rezzonico mansion include a series of ceiling frescoes by Tiepolo, a magnificent staircase and some truly outstanding views across the Grand Canal.
