Ca' d'Oro (Golden House) is a fabulous Venetian Gothic palace, dating back to the 15th century. Containing a wealth of exquisite sculptures and ornaments that were once covered with gold, Venice's Ca' d'Oro (Golden House) is considered the finest example of Gothic architecture in Venice
The facade of the Ca' d'Oro was once gilded, hence the name 'Golden House' or 'House of Gold' as it is also known. After elaborate restoration, the colours of this beautiful mansion's exterior final reflect in Venice's Grand Canal once again.
Attractions at Venice's Ca' d'Oro (Golden House) include the Franchetti Gallery, displaying a fine collection of Venetian Byzantine arts. Since 1984, the Ca' d'Oro has been home to the important Giorgio Franchetti art collection, with a number of stunning masterpieces by famous Italian artists such as Mantegna, Diana and Carpaccio.
Other attractions at Venice's Golden House include an impressive mosaic on the ground floor, fragments of Giorgione and Titian's frescoes on the second floor, and stunning views across the Grand Canal and Venice from a number of the balconies.
